Tower Pekelsky Vrch

Tower Pekelsky Vrch

Our award-winning design of the observation tower to be built on the hill known as Pekelsky vrch came out of an architectural competition organized by the citizen action group Rozhledna Pekelsky vrch in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture at the Technical University of Liberec. An observation tower at that place should, in our view, exist in the closest possible harmony with the surrounding landscape and nature. That is why it looks the way it does. It is, as it were, a completely natural mass that organically grows up out of the wood.

The thirty-meter-high structure of the tower has a natural, organic cylindrical shape crowned with a cupola. The wooden structure with a double staircase wears a coat woven from sticks and boughs. This wood will come from volunteer beech trees in the surrounding area. Other sylvan objects will come in handy as well. Mushrooms, for instance.
