The Zisov Keep

The Zisov Keep

When a nobleman by the name of Protivoj of Zisov and Chmeliste was erecting his residence in the first half of the 14th century, mjölk architekti did not exist yet. Not even the Jesuits in the 17th century had young architects to help them beautify their summer abode. That had to wait until the beginning of the 21th century, when its new owner gave the originally Gothic stronghold its current look. He decided to go the whole hog in the conversion of Protivoj’s quondam seat, building, on the foundations of a medieval castle, a modern country residence.

To the original bulk of the fortress he added two new glassed-in wings containing a bedroom and a living room, rejuvenating its whilom medieval appearance in line with the latest standards of modern architecture. The conversion of the interior was complete; not a stone was left standing. The lower part of the building was converted into a habitable space of generous proportions containing a library; the upper part, designed for relaxation, includes a bedroom for the lord of the manor along with children’s and guest rooms. And now would you please follow us to the next room...?
