Pilsen is a town that watched the airship Graf Zeppelin float over its rooftops, and a town that felt the force of American bombs during World War II. Now a new bomb hit the site of the Gallery of West Bohemia!
In the flatland that is the city of Pilsen, the rooftops form a landscape that reminds one of a calm expanse of the ocean from which islands jut out, these being the Church of St. Bartholomew and the Great Synagogue. Another edifice that soars above this landscape is our gallery, which is like a new intrepid atoll amid the fierce waves raging on the edges of the historic center. The interior of this atoll hides an intimate gallery world encircled by a ring of art collections.

We ascend along the outer edges of the ring, passing through the collections into the heights of the rooftop terraces, from whence we can see all the way to the distant shores of Sumava.
We call upon every sailor who feels driven by the winds of curiosity to mount an exploratory expedition to our island. He will find treasure troves of art history and refresh himself with the succulent fruit of modern art. Ship ahoy!
